This is a collaborative project between Lindz Routt, DJ Arthur Goodland, and TNTrio.
What: Take Away (artwork by Lindz Routt)
Where:Affinity Lab U Street
When: Friday, May 7th, 7 - 10 pm
From the press release:
Visitors to the show are encouraged to not only view the paintings provided by the artist, but are asked to contribute their own thoughts, memories and anecdotes to the show by writings on the provided wall panels. Inciting child-like wonder in terms of the colors used, the work invites participants to think about what they remember and take away from life’s experiences.
This is part of a long-term project by the artist, whom earlier this year produced another series of oil paintings that were strategically displayed throughout DC neighborhoods and places where the "traditional" medium of oil painting is not often found. Anyone who found the paintings was encouraged to keep them in exchange for a cell phone picture of the new owner and the painting. The project was considered a huge success. The show on May 7th will be a continuation of that concept, on a much larger scale.
Of special note: at the end of opening night, the 15 most creative contributions by visitors will receive a FREE PAINTING of their choice at the selection of the artist, who will trade her stories/paintings in exchange for those of the visitors.
