
At its annual holiday party Affinity Lab, an entrepreneurial start-up space in Adams Morgan, awarded a $3,000 scholarship for the best sustainable business idea to Misha Keefe for her concept EcoMisha.
EcoMisha best demonstrated an idea that incorporates the key elements of sustainable business - a focus on financial, environmental and societal bottom lines.
The scholarship award will include:
* 30 hours per month of use of a desk at Affinity Lab for six months ($1,500 value)
* 20 hours of individual business plan and business operations counsel and guidance by Affinity Lab staff and successful entrepreneurs ($1,500+ value)
* Networking opportunities within Affinity Lab member networks
* Notification and support in the application for various national and local business plan competitions
The two runner-up concepts were Biolite by Eric Carlson and Envirelation by Walker T. Lunn and Kate Davenport. The runner-up scholarships will include:
* 15 hours of free membership/use of Affinity Lab services
* 15% discount on Affinity Lab Services for six months
* Networking opportunities within Affinity Lab member networks
* Notification and support in the application for various national and local business plan competitions
The applications were judged by a committee of successful entrepreneurs, business professionals and Affinity Lab staff.
