Making an impact one project at a time
Company:1Well
Web:www.1well.org

1Well is a new entrepreneurial non-profit that allows people to make social investments in high need areas of the world that have a direct and significant impact on the lives of others. Through its local partners, 1Well identifies critical life-sustaining projects – wells, sanitation, agriculture development, etc. – and matches them with social venture capitalists (SVCs) that commit to raising the capital required to complete the project. 1Well projects are grants, not investments, but the social returns are high. The first project was sponsored by an SVC who raised $5,000 from friends and family to build a sustainable well in India that gave over 500 people clean drinking water.

1 Well Launch: Self Empowerment meets Global Opportunity

May 17, 2008

Lab Member Dan Morrison and his firm 3rd Point International recently launched 1 Well, an initiative that connects individuals and organizations interested in supporting life saving infrastructure projects with qualified villages and communities throughout the developing world. 1 Well was launched as a collaborative effort of many, including Lab members Design Symphony and Joint Concepts, who supported the effort with brand experience consulting, design and web site development.

About two hundred people celebrated 1 Well’s launch at the Gibson showroom in Washington DC with a performance by No Second Troy and a video presentation that documented the successful completion of 1 Well’s first project – the digging of a new well in remote village in India which was collaboratively funded by friends and family of Dan Morrison within just a few weeks.
